Version Compatibility Requirements

Connect Foundation Versions

Before installing or upgrading Connect, make sure your Foundation deployment meets the minimum version required for your target Connect release. Some upgrades may also require restarts or configuration changes.

The following table shows the compatibility requirements for Connect and Foundation versions.

25r04 or later

If you are using an older version of Foundation, upgrade to 25r04 or later before installing Connect.

≤ 1.18.0 - 1.19.0+

No specific Foundation requirement

You need to restart your flow server. Rolling upgrades are not supported.

1.20.0

25r09

Aligns with APISIX secret changes. If you deploy Connect 1.20.0 or later with an older Foundation version or vice versa, you must apply the overrides described in Connect Identity Reconciler Fails to Start Due to Renamed APISIX Secret.

1.23.0

25r12 or later

If you are using an older version of Foundation, upgrade to 25r12 or later before installing Connect.

1.24.0

25r13 or later

Foundation 25r13 upgrades Elastic to 9.x. Connect versions prior to 1.24.0 do not support Elastic 9.x.

Vault to OpenBao Migration

Starting with Connect 1.21.0, the secrets management component changed from Vault to OpenBao. The following table summarizes the Connect version, secrets, and the required actions when upgrading to this release version.

Vault (connect-vault chart)

Vault is deployed and managed as part of the Connect installation.

1.21.0 or later

OpenBao (connect-openbao chart)

The connect-vault chart is replaced by connect-openbao chart. Data migration from Vault to OpenBao is handled automatically by the Helm chart. After verifying that OpenBao deployment is functioning correctly, Uninstall Connect Vault. If you experience migration issues (for example, missing secrets or data corruption), contact Connect Support.
